The distribution story is splitting in two. The Investment Company Institute’s latest weekly estimates show total ETF net issuance of $11.33 billion, but equity ETFs saw negative net issuance of $2.64 billion while bond ETFs took in $10.88 billion, so headline scale is concealing a preference for income and ballast. For issuers, that argues product differentiation and advisor workflow fit matter more than simply joining the asset-growth parade.
