NEXT BIG NUMBER
Housing Starts & Building Permits
New residential construction activity. Building permits are the leading indicator — starts are lagging. A sustained move above 1.5M annualized permits would signal housing recovery.

ADVISOR ALLOCATION SHIFT TRACKER
Buffered ETFs Carving Out a Permanent Allocation Slot
Buffered/Defined Outcome ▲ 1% → 4%
Core Bonds ▼ 28% → 24%
US Equity ► 42% → 43%
International ► 13% → 13%
Cash ▼ 7% → 5%
Buffered ETFs are replacing bond allocations, not equity. Advisors see them as behavioral insurance — clients tolerate market participation when downside is capped. This category is moving from niche to core.
Wholesaler script
“Pitch buffered ETFs as permanent allocation, not tactical — that frame closes.”

NEW ETF LAUNCH RADAR
Income ETF Category Surpasses 500 Products
Covered call ETFs, BDC-focused ETFs, and CLO ETFs have collectively driven the income category past the 500-product milestone
Tax-efficient structures (Section 1256 contracts) and high-distribution CLO ETFs are the fastest-growing sub-segments
Income-focused ETFs now represent one of the largest and fastest-growing category clusters in the U.S. ETF market
Income remains the #1 theme in new product launches. The covered call, BDC, and high-yield categories are getting increasingly crowded. Differentiation through tax efficiency or unique underlying assets is the winning formula.
Wholesaler script
“Income ETF crowding means advisors need our income sleeve, not another fund.”

The One Question That Predicts Advisor Adoption
After surveying 500+ financial advisors through our network, the #1 predictor of whether an advisor will use a new ETF isn't performance, fees, or brand — it's the answer to: 'Can I explain this to my client in one sentence?' Funds that pass the one-sentence test tend to see stronger early adoption. If your elevator pitch requires a whiteboard, you have a distribution problem disguised as a product problem.
ADVISOR SENTIMENT PULSE
Buffer ETFs Are the #1 New Category Advisors Are Researching
Buffer/Defined Outcome searches up 85% QoQ on advisor platforms
Advisors want downside protection they can explain to clients. The defined outcome category is moving from niche to mainstream. First movers in advisor education here will capture disproportionate flows.

DISTRIBUTION TIP OF THE DAY
Platform Strategy
The Hidden Timeline for Schwab Fund Approval
Schwab's ETF marketplace review averages 6-9 months — but issuers who schedule a pre-submission call with the platform's ETF specialist cut that timeline by 40%. The informal pre-review flags deal-breakers before they become rejections. One call can save you two quarters.

PLATFORM APPROVAL TRACKER
Pershing Model Marketplace Adds First Crypto-Adjacent ETFs
BNY Pershing added Bitcoin and multi-token crypto ETFs to its model marketplace for the first time, signaling that even the most conservative custodial platforms are warming to digital asset exposure in managed accounts.
IMPLICATION FOR ISSUERS
Pershing's conservative platform adding crypto ETFs is a distribution tipping point. Advisors who were waiting for 'platform approval' before adding crypto now have cover.

Wholesaler script
“Pershing crypto-adjacent ETFs = warm up advisors to our crypto-curious funds.”

WHOLESALER BENCHMARK
8.2
meetings/week
Top-quartile external wholesalers average 8.2 advisor meetings per week
BENCHMARK CONTEXT
Industry median: 5.4 meetings/week. The gap isn't effort — it's territory planning. Top performers cluster meetings geographically and use LinkedIn engagement data to prioritize warm targets.

WHAT ADVISORS TOLD US THIS WEEK
“My clients don't care about your expense ratio. They care about whether I can explain the strategy in one sentence over dinner.”
— Wirehouse FA, $1.2B book, Northeast
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR ISSUERS
The one-sentence test remains the #1 predictor of advisor adoption. If your elevator pitch requires a whiteboard, you have a distribution problem, not a product problem.
