NEXT BIG NUMBER
Trade Balance
Monthly measure of the difference between US exports and imports. A widening deficit (more imports) often signals strong domestic demand but can be a headwind to GDP. Trade policy changes — including tariffs — make this release more volatile and politically sensitive.

ADVISOR ALLOCATION SHIFT TRACKER
International Exposure Hits 3-Year High in Advisor Portfolios
US Equity 45% → 41%
International Dev. 10% → 14%
Emerging Markets 4% → 6%
Fixed Income 30% → 29%
Alternatives 9% → 9%
Advisors are meaningfully diversifying away from US large-cap for the first time since 2021. International equity and EM ETFs are seeing renewed inflows. If your products have non-US exposure, this is the narrative to lead with.
Wholesaler script
“Anchor international ETF discussions to advisor's existing 3-year rotation trend.”

The CE Credit Webinar Funnel That Converts at 12%
Standard webinars convert attendees to meetings at 2-3%. CE credit webinars convert at 8-12%. Why? Advisors who attend CE webinars are actively investing time in their practice. They're serious. The highest-converting format: a 45-minute panel with your PM, an independent market strategist, and a practicing advisor who uses your fund. The advisor testimonial is the conversion catalyst — not the PM's market outlook.

ADVISOR SENTIMENT PULSE
Advisors Are Rotating Into Shorter Duration Fixed Income
62% of surveyed advisors reduced portfolio duration in Q1 2026
Advisors are telling us they're worried about a second inflation wave. If your fund offers short-duration or floating-rate exposure, this is the narrative to lead with in every meeting.

Advisor Psychology
The One-Sentence Test That Predicts Advisor Adoption
After surveying 500+ advisors: the #1 predictor of whether an advisor adopts a new ETF isn't performance or fees — it's whether they can explain it to a client in one sentence. Funds that pass the one-sentence test see 3x higher adoption in the first 90 days.

Schwab Regularly Updates Its NTF ETF List — April Cycle Now Open
Schwab regularly updates its No-Transaction-Fee ETF list, adding products across active fixed income, thematic equity, and buffer strategies. Schwab NTF inclusion is the single highest-impact distribution event for sub-$1B ETFs — advisors on the platform default to NTF products.
IMPLICATION FOR ISSUERS
If your fund isn't on Schwab's NTF list, you're fighting for attention with one hand tied behind your back. Application deadlines vary by cycle — check with Schwab's ETF platform team for current submission windows.

“Confirm our funds are on Schwab's April NTF cycle before next advisor call.”

WHOLESALER BENCHMARK
$42M
AUM/quarter
Average organic inflows generated per top-decile wholesaler per quarter
BENCHMARK CONTEXT
Median wholesaler generates $11M/quarter. The 4x differential comes from three habits: (1) following up within 48 hours, (2) sharing one relevant market insight per month with every advisor in their territory, and (3) attending every local advisor event, not just the big conferences.

WHAT ADVISORS TOLD US THIS WEEK
“Stop sending me emails about your fund outperforming the benchmark by 30 basis points. Send me one email about how my client's portfolio would have behaved with your fund during the last three drawdowns.”
— Fee-only RIA, $310M AUM, Chicago
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR ISSUERS
Drawdown analysis converts better than performance data. Advisors buy risk management, not alpha. Your marketing should lead with crisis performance, not up-market returns.
